The Irish and the Summer!

The Beer Terrace

The Beer Terrace

What is it with our Irish Summers that we just seem to get a blast of good weather then its back to October conditions again for an even longer stretch!  In the early weeks of the summer The Terrace area here was jammed everyday from early till late. There was a brief time when we got to realise how wonderful Dublin city can be when the weather brings out the best in us. On a fine day Dublin is as good; if not even better than any of our European neighbours have it!

And as a people we look great in the sunshine; the barbeque area of The Terrace was a wash with the reassurance that we as a people now at last know how to pull off the ‘Summer Look’! No longer is it the lime green Penny’s pedal pushers, white socks to the knees and the standard issue Italia ‘90 tank top.

Throughout the fine spell we enjoyed recently people who came to visit us were casually attired in white linins, Prada sandals and designer eyewear. Ok so we get just under half a million people through the doors here each year, so lets assume that some of the cool kids here were from over seas and just visiting us; but get a little closer to the tables, closer to the conversations and the unmistakable ‘Dub’ accents leave you in no doubt that yes indeed these sophisticated beings were our own!

Needless to say; as soon as its time for the kids to get back to school the sun will make a return to our lives! So when it does you know where to come to hang out and enjoy an ice cold beer from our outdoor bar and a delicious barbeque selection cooked to you liking right in from of you.

On a completely different note; we are delighted to see that so many new people have joined our Social Media family on Facebook and Twitter in particular. Maybe all this SM stuff is as good as people say it is! We hope to deliver content to all of you in the coming weeks and have already posted the first in a series of ‘Church How To…’ guides on You Tube. Have a look and let us know what you think. Be there and make history!

Be there and make history!

After the success of our recent SATC2 Competition we had to get our thinking hats on and come up with something that would top even that, also we felt that we had to consider the feelings of our male fans and followers a bit more (guys have feelings too ya know!).

Although there is a lot of evidence to suggest that as many ladies will love this competition prize; we hope it will balance out the stats from the SATC comp (86% of all entries were from women!).

OK so what’s the deal you ask? Well simply we are looking to build up the numbers of our social media family! So to be in with a chance to win this competition all you need to do is be a fan or follower and get a few fans or followers! Its actually that simple!

We will pick someone from all the names on our SM lists and ask them to give us two other names that are friends of theirs that are also on the lists!

The prize for all your efforts is truly historic. You will be part of that unique group of people who will be able to say for the rest  their lives ‘I saw the first match ever played in the new Aviva’. It is something that any true Irish sports fan dreams of saying. As if that was not enough we are also going to give you accommodation in Dublin and wine and dine you VIP style in The Church plus a few other goodies!

The full details of the prize and how to enter can be found here… http://bit.ly/ChurchComp

So make sure you are a fan or follower and that some of your friends are too by suggesting they ‘like’ The Church page on Face book (http://facebook.com/thechurch.ie) or suggest us in your ‘Follow Friday List’ #ff on Twitter (http://twitter.com/thechurch_ie)

Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts on this or anything else about The Church!

A full details of all T&C’s is available on request from…  sales@thechurch.ie

Arthur’s Day @The Church

November 11, 2009

Posted on Venntertainment.com, Sept 25th 2009
Thought I’d write a few words on what I got up to yesterday. I was very kindly given tickets to The Church’s Guinness Celebrations by Brendan and the lovely folk there, so I made my way up with some friends for around the 5.30 mark. The place was only hopping!
First [...]
